Settings

The Settings menu opens the TransiCast Settings dialog box. Eight settings are available. The following screenshot shows the TransiCast Settings dialog box.

Refresh Cycle

The Refresh cycle determines the frequency of Transit Data Server requests for updates of approaching service vehicles. The default value is 30 seconds. A dialog box opens after tapping the Refresh cycle item. This dialog box has an entry field for the refresh cycle in seconds. The range of values is 15 to 120.

Note: More frequent updates may lead to faster battery discharge.

Prediction Horizon

The Prediction horizon sets the maximum predicted departure time for approaching vehicles to be included in the display. Example: If the prediction horizon is to 90 minutes, and the predicted departure of an apporaching vehicle is 96 minutes, the vehicle will not be displayed on the map view, until its predicted departure time is within 90 minutes. The prediction horizon range is five to 120 minutes.

Alarm Threshold

The Alarm threshold sets:

The alarm threshold range is zero to ten minutes.

Panel View

The Panel view sets the threshold for switching to the panel view mode, based on the number of unique vehicle destinations in approach to the stop when no destination filter is set. For example: If the value is 3, the display is switched to panel view if three or more unique vehicle destinations are in approach to the stop. The default value is 0, which switches into panel view in any case. The standard view displaying vehicle locations and heading is used when the number of unique vehicle destinations approaching the stop is below the panel view threshold value. In order to maintain the standard view as is the case with TransiCast v1.0, set the panel view threshold to a high value, e.g. 99. Note that the standard view is used when destination filters are set.

Auto Center

Auto center is a switch that sets whether the map view is automatically centered when the user taps the stop label, or other events occur that cause the map view to center automatically.   More

Countdown

The Countdown switch determines whether scheduled departures are counted down, like real-time departures, or if they are displayed in absoulte departure time. Absolute departure times are displayed in military time format.

Stop Label Orientation

By default, stop and vehicle labels are rotated to the right. This setting changes the stop and vehicle label orientation between left and right.

Stop Label Sensor

This switch enables or disables the the stop label orientation switching when the device is flicked. If a device with incompatible sensors is detected, TransiCast automaticallty turns this switch off.

Announcements

This switch enables or disables audible announcements of next stops and departures through Android's Text-to-speech capability. Requires Android 1.6 or later.

Transit Data Server

This is the web address of the selected Transit Data Server. It is used to query transit stops, vehicles and detours. Initially, the Transit Data Server web address is populated with the TransiCast cloud server address (http://transicast.appspot.com), but Transit Data Servers that offer feeds that are compatible with Trimet's web service can be used as well.
